Three teams have won five Super Bowls. The San Francisco 49ers were the first to do it. In 1981, just two years after finishing with a 2 and 14 record, Head Coach Bill Walsh's "West Coast Offense" fueled the 49ers victory over the Bengals in Super Bowl XVI. By 1984, the 49ers were a dominant team, becoming the first team ever to win 15 games in the regular season. They finished the season by defeating the Miami Dolphins in Super Bowl XIX. Four years later, Joe Montana led San Francisco on a desperate 92 yard drive, tossing the winning touchdown pass to John Taylor with 34 seconds left in Super Bowl XXIII. In 1989, Walsh retired from coaching, he was replaced by George Seifert and the 49ers never missed a beat. San Francisco won 14 games plus two playoff victories that year and scored a record 55 points in the 49ers complete dismantling of the Broncos in Super Bowl XXIV. In 1994, the 49ers won their 5th Super Bowl, this time behind Quarterback Steve Young.
